What’s new in the Loose Parts Play Hub this April

Here’s what you will find in the Loose Parts Play Hub this month:

Treasure Basket:

New on the book shelf is a treasure basket. Treasure baskets are collections of beautiful or interesting items for infants and toddlers to explore. Children learn so much through their senses and these baskets offer a variety of different weights, textures, shapes and sizes for discovery. Treasure baskets are also excellent for literacy and social play.

Treasure baskets can be curated in a variety of ways. They could be a collection of random items, items based on a theme (such as wood, metal, or nature items), or a collection of items that are all one color. The main goal is to offer a variety to appeal to all the senses and making sure that the items are safe and nontoxic.

Building Station:

A new station has been identified in the Loose Parts Play Hub! Along with the materials station and the mark making station we now have a building station! These shelves will always contain items for building and engineering. For the month of April we will continue with our ball maze materials.

Open Hours update:

We have updated and posted our LPPH open hours!

Not only is the LPPH a great spot for playing with loose parts and making your mark, it has been talked about as a great spot for a slower, more quiet moment at the museum. And don’t forget, each Wednesday afternoon you can join us there for Outdoor Explorers from 1pm-3pm!
