Kids generate power in the Nidec Power Zone Exhibit at the Children's Museum of Southern Minnesota

Kid Power

Get ready to spark curiosity and fuel imagination! This dynamic new exhibit invites children to explore the exciting world of energy, motion, and innovation through hands-on play. From cranking a Power Tower to generate electricity, to designing and racing wind-powered cars, kids engage with real-world engineering concepts in a playful, accessible way.

This exhibit is great for...

learning about big concepts through hands-on play.

Little Builders

A Rotating Zone within the exhibit will feature open-ended building tools like Light Play, Rigamajig, and Blue Blocks, designed to promote critical thinking skills and teamwork.

Experimentation

At the Air Cars Station, children will use hand-crank generators to power wind-driven vehicles, encouraging experimentation, creativity, and hands-on learning.

Energy

Children will generate their own electricity at the Power Tower—lighting bulbs, powering fans, and launching beach balls into the air.
