Earth Day: Prairie’s Edge Exploration Kick-off!

Celebrate Earth Day by checking out a Prairie’s Edge Exploration Backpack during our spring kick-off event! Families will once again be able to checkout backpacks designed to encourage and enhance nature-based play. New this year: reservations are not required! Simply stop at the Front Desk and check out a backpack ($25 refundable deposit required). Please note we have a limited number of backpacks, available on a first come first serve basis. Throughout the day we will have various prairie activities which will make use of items in a backpack, such as binoculars, field guide, and bug viewers and we will have occasional prairie walks throughout the day (not scheduled – as needed.)  Visitors might get a close-up view of an insect or observe different shapes and textures of plant leaves with a magnifier, or look for birds in the sky and check out tall trees with binoculars.  A casual, outdoor, prairie exploration type of day!
