Colorful Critters | CMSMatHome

Let’s create colorful critters with #CMSMatHome today!

Get some paper, crayons, coloring pencils, or markers. Imagine a critter you’d like to draw; will it be real or something you’ve made up? Start with an outline as you think about its size, how it moves, and how it protects itself. Does it have fur? What about feathers, scales, teeth, beak, or talons? Color your critter in. What colors are you choosing?

Further Your Learning

  • Research different animals and see how they use colors to survive. Try starting with frogs, butterflies, and birds.
  • Explore beyond colors. Why do animals have fur, quills, gills, or different teeth?
  • Come up with a name for the critter you’ve created.
